Ajay Gambhir is a Research Fellow at the Grantham Institute at Imperial College London. His research focuses on the economic and technical feasibility of low-carbon transition pathways at national, regional and global scales, using energy system models and analysis of low-carbon energy technology innovation and cost reduction potential. He led four projects in the first AVOID research programme, including studies into the long-term low-carbon pathways of China and India.
Before joining Imperial College in 2010, Ajay worked as a UK Government economist and policy analyst. He was part of the team that designed the draft UK Climate Change Bill in 2007 (which became an Act of Parliament in 2008) and he also worked in the Department of Energy and Climate Change as Team Leader for EU and international climate change economics.
